Two Norfolk councils are working with their communities to give their districts a spring clean.

South Norfolk Council’s Big South Norfolk Litter Pick and Broadland District Council’s Big Broadland Litter Pick have now launched.

The councils are once again asking local schools, parish councils and community groups to get involved and are offering prizes of £200 to be spent on supporting the community.

South Norfolk Council’s Cabinet Member for Cleaner, Safer Environment, Cllr Keith Kiddie, said:

“Hundreds of residents get involved in our litter pick every year and it’s always fantastic to see our communities pulling together to keep South Norfolk looking its best.”

Broadland District Council’s Cabinet Member for Environmental Excellence, Cllr Jan Davis, said:

“This year we’d love as many groups as possible to join in and give the district a spring clean. We live in such a beautiful part of the world and with your help, we will keep it that way.

“If you haven’t signed up to take part, there’s still time and as well as the litter, you may even bag yourself £200 to spend on your community group!”

The councils provide advice and equipment, and when the event is finished, they can arrange for the litter to be collected.

The big litter picks run until the end of May and every school, parish council and community group that takes part has the chance to win £200 to spend in their community.

There are twenty £200 prizes up for grabs in both districts and every group that takes part will be given a £20 voucher to spend on their group, charity or local community.
