Broadland District Council's Community at Heart Lottery is celebrating its birthday with two new prize draws of £500 for two non-profit groups in the district.

Each group will be chosen at random on 30 April and awarded £500 to support their valuable work in the community.

The first prize draw gives new groups the chance to kickstart their fundraising, and all they need to do to enter is sign up for the Community at Heart Lottery by 30 April 2024.

The second prize draw will reward one of the 90 existing Good Causes already signed up and raising money through the lottery. Any registered good cause that increases its weekly ticket sales by 10 tickets at any point between now and 30 April will be automatically entered into the draw to win £500.

The successful lottery, which has raised more than £126,000 for non-profit groups around the district over the past three years, helps a variety of organisations - such as schools and nurseries, charities, music groups, wellbeing services and sports clubs -raise much-needed funds in a sustainable way.

Any non-profit group that wants to be part of this easy way to fundraise should go to the lottery website to register. There are no set-up fees or costs, and money raised from tickets they sell is paid to them directly each month.

Cllr Natasha Harpley, Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing and Deputy Leader at Broadland District Council said:

"In these difficult times, community groups and charities are playing an increasingly vital role in our communities, so I’m really pleased that our Community at Heart Lottery has helped to support these groups and made a difference to Broadland residents over the past three years. Funds raised have helped worthy organisations to deliver their services and raise their profiles to a wider audience. I'd urge anyone wondering if their group is eligible, to get in touch ASAP and take their fundraising to a new level."

Fifty pence from every £1 ticket sold goes directly to the good cause and a further 10p from each ticket goes into a community funding pot managed by Broadland District Council. The remaining 40p goes towards prize money and running costs.

Players can buy tickets via the lottery website and draws take place every Saturday at 8pm. As well as the £25,000 jackpot, the other cash prizes available are £2,000, £250, £25. Winners will be emailed, and the winning numbers will be posted on the lottery website as well as the Community at Heart Lottery Facebook and Twitter.
