South Norfolk Council’s leisure centres welcomed customers back this week with the opening of their 3G pitches, tennis courts and outdoor classes.

This is the first phase of a staggered reopening of the Council’s facilities at Long Stratton, Diss and Wymondham Leisure Centre, Framingham Earl Sports Centre and Kett’s Park.

Leisure Operations Manager Daniel Infanti said: “It’s fantastic to finally be opening up the centres again and welcoming our members back. Over the next few months, we will gradually be reopening all of our facilities when it is deemed safe to do so.”

Following the government’s advice, the Council plans to reopen all their gyms and the swimming pools at Diss and Wymondham Leisure Centre on April 12.

From 17 May, indoor classes, such as HIIT, Yoga, and Pilates will be back on offer and children will once again be able to have fun in the Bananas Soft Play.

On 21 June, the Council plans to reopen all their facilities.

Manager Daniel Infanti said:

“We will still be operating in a Covid-secure way to keep our residents and members safe, so for example, you may have to book certain things online before using our facilities and maintain social distancing, but all being well, we will be offering our full range of facilities again on 21 June and we are extremely excited to be opening our doors again.”

To celebrate the reopening, the Council is offering two weeks free leisure membership for residents who join before 12 April, giving new members access to all of the Council’s Centres for just £25 per month for May and June. They will also have access to Your Home Workout, which gives members access to hundreds of online workouts they can do at home.

The Council is kicking off its outdoor classes with bootcamp sessions at both Long Stratton and Kett’s Park. For more details and to book, visit can the South Norfolk Council website.
