South Norfolk's Village Clusters consultation opens

South Norfolk Council is carrying out a consultation on Alternative Sites and Focused Changes for the draft Village Clusters Housing Allocations Plan (VCHAP).

The consultation follows a review of the responses received to the publication stage of the Plan that was held between 23 January and 8 March 2023. The review determined that one of the proposed sites is no longer deliverable (VC ROC2 in Rockland St Mary) and that another site should be slightly reduced in numbers to address heritage concerns (VC TAS1 in Tasburgh).

As a minimum, this consultation seeks to make up the resulting shortfall in order to deliver the housing numbers needed.

South Norfolk Councillor, Lisa Overton-Neal said:

“We want to look after the people who live in South Norfolk today while planning for the people who want to come and live here in the future. This plan will deliver growth that will support the vitality of our villages and the housing developments will help support local builders and tradespeople, strengthening our local economy.”

The proposed VCHAP will allocate sites for a minimum of 1,200 additional new homes across the villages of South Norfolk to be delivered by 2038.

Once adopted, the VCHAP will become part of the Development Plan for South Norfolk.

The consultation is open between 9:00am on Monday 11 December 2023 and 5:00pm on Monday 5 February 2024. The consultation is in accordance with Regulation 18 of the Town & Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.
