Recycle your unwanted electrical equipment on Friday 4 August at South Norfolk Council’s next electrical recycling event.

Residents will be able to drop off their unwanted small electrical items such as kettles, vacuum cleaners, lawnmowers, toasters, computer equipment, CD and DVD players between 8:30am to 2:30pm.

Cabinet Member for Cleaner, Safer Environment Cllr Keith Kiddie said:

“UK households and businesses produce around one and a half million tonnes of electrical waste each year, with precious metals like gold, aluminium, copper and steel going to waste. Mining these metals causes pollution, is harmful for wildlife and fuels climate change, so it is vital that we recycle and reuse as much as we can. Over the years we have prevented tonnes of electrical equipment ending up in the bin through these popular events and we are expecting another great turnout in Costessey.”

Over 1,200 items were collected at the Council’s previous two events held in Wymondham and Diss.

Cllr Kiddie added:

“This is your chance to have a good clear out, have a rummage in the garage, check the back of the cupboards and get rid of all your unwanted and broken electricals.”

The event will take place at the car park of Breckland Hall and Owen Barns Rooms, Breckland Road, Costessey, NR5 0RW.

This is a drop-off recycling event for small electrical items, the Council can only accept household electricals, no business waste, hazardous waste or fridges/freezers.
