Broadland District Council - how the Council makes decisions
Some of the decision making takes place at meetings of the Council, Cabinet and other committees and panels and some by individual councillors and officers under the Council's Scheme of Delegation (within Part 3 of the Constitution). The Council's Constitution explains how the Council makes decisions and who is responsible for them.
In February each year the Council agrees the timetable of meetings for the next municipal year (which runs from May to April).
Forward Plan
The Forward Plan lists the major decisions to be taken by the Cabinet in the coming months. Some are 'key decisions' that are likely to result in significant expenditure or savings or that affect two or more wards or electoral divisions. Portfolio holder and officer decisions
The Council's portfolio holders collectively make up the membership of the Council's Cabinet. Cabinet makes some of the decisions on behalf of the Council.
Each Portfolio Holder and key officers have responsibility for particular services and are given delegated authority to take decisions about some matters.
