Broadland: New service to help Council Tax payers in arrears

10 pound note with a pen and calculator

Broadland District Council has launched a new digital engagement service to help residents keep on top of their Council Tax payments.

Council Tax payers who fall into arrears will now be sent a text, email or voice message reminder before taking further recovery action.

This service can prevent statutory recovery documents being issued and may help residents avoid paying expensive costs.

“Our aim is to make it as convenient as possible for you to pay for services that we provide. Our new voice, text message and email service is being offered to help prevent customers from falling further into arrears by providing direct reminders and quick links to click through to complete payments. Please be assured that these messages you receive from us are genuine and the links will take you to our secure website.”

said Cllr Trudy Mancini-Boyle, Broadland’s Cabinet Member for Finance.

Text messages sent by Broadland District Council will show as being from ‘BroadlandDC’ and will contain a short URL using either https://gsys.oi or https://textm.co.

All Council Tax payers who have previously supplied their mobile number and/or email address to the Council will be signed up for the service automatically. Anyone who hasn’t done this, or who has new contact details, can send their mobile number and email address to counciltax.bdc@southnorfolkandbroadland.gov.uk to be included in the new service.
