Queen's Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in Broadland

This year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch tocelebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years as Head of State. Here’s what we are doing to mark this unprecedented achievement and to help you celebrate.

Raising the flag on 2 June

We will hold a small civic ceremony at Thorpe Lodge where our Chairman will raise the Jubilee Union Flag and officially begin the District’s celebrations.

Party in the Park - sold out

What: Broadland residents are invited to join us for the live-streaming of the BBC’s coverage of the Party in the Palace on the big screen! There will be a range of food vendors and bars, you can also purchase a picnic from the National Trust. Or bring your own, as well as chairs and blankets.

Our Tots2Teens crew will also be there in the early evening with crafts and activities for children aged 5 to 12 years old.

The event is as accessible as possible. The venue is wheelchair friendly; subtitles will be shown on the screen and there is a designated quiet area for those who feel they may need some time out of the celebrations.

This event has now sold out.

Jubilee sculptures this summer

Look out for our Corgi sculptures. Created by local arts organisation Tin House, sculptures of the Pembrokeshire Welsh Corgi’s beloved by HM the Queen will be placed in key locations around Broadland. See if you can spot them all! Find out more here.

Broadland's Traveller's Charm Trail

Over the summer holidays and beyond, there will be a Jubilee Treasure Hunt. We will be inviting residents and visitors to download a trail book and use it when visiting sites across the district to solve clues and uncover hidden mysteries. During the treasure hunt you will be encouraged to spend an afternoon by the river, enjoy an ice-cream and test themselves with the fun puzzles. Or take a stroll around our towns and villages, visit the historic sites and treat themselves to tea and cakes whilst unpicking the clever clues hidden in the town. Find out more here.

Wider celebrations

Communities, town and parish councils will be holding events, including beacon lightings, street parties, fetes and fun days, with many taking place over the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend from 2 to 5 June. There are also a range of County base tributes planned by the Deputy Lieutenants. Details of these are available here Home - Platinum Jubilee Norfolk You can also register your own event on this website and promote it for free. To help you celebrate this momentous occasion we are also offering tree grants to community groups so you can plant a tree for the jubilee, more information can be found on page 15.
