South Norfolk E-Commerce Platform Build Programme

We are pleased to make available a programme of support to help businesses based in South Norfolk get set up with an online trading platform.

Each participating business will have the capability to take online orders for sales on completion of the programme.

There will be no direct monetary award made to any of the successful businesses. Funding is limited so we can only allow a maximum of 25 businesses onto the programme.

The Council has already been through a procurement exercise to select a local company and is pleased to be working with Quickfire Digital (based in Norwich) who will exclusively work with successful applicants to provide a package which will consist of:

  • training and consultancy
  • in-person workshops with small cohorts of other local businesses
  • build of agreed e-commerce website (using one of Shopify or WooCommerce)
  • implementation of platform
  • support through the remainder of the 12 month programme from the launch of the programme (June 2022 to May 2023)

In the case of each business the value of the support above shall not exceed £4,000. The funded support will only be available to successful applicants from Quickfire Digital and not from any other provider of services.

Other qualifying criteria:

  • the business must have its primary trading base in the South Norfolk district
  • the business must not already trade online
  • we will not accept applications from the same person for more than one business, or trading venture.
  • submission of an application does not guarantee a place on the programme

We will consider applications from businesses that have been supported by the Go Digital programme overseen by Norfolk County Council, but we will also accept applications from businesses that have not been part of that programme.

We will be asking the following questions through the application process for you to bear in mind before submitting an application:

  • why are you applying to come on the programme?
  • why do you want to trade online?
  • what will you be selling?
  • what are you hoping to take out of the programme?

The programme will be open to applications for a period of four weeks from the date of launch. If before the expiry of four weeks the Council has received as many as 40 applications the application window will be closed early. This means we will not be processing applications on a first come, first-served basis.

Once the programme has been closed to applications, if the programme is oversubscribed (more than 25 applications from eligible businesses) there will be a selection process, with the involvement of Quickfire Digital, to select which businesses will be admitted on to the programme. The decision to offer a place on the programme will be based on the information in your application, what we can see of your existing online trading presence, and the answers to any follow-up questions we feel need asking.

We want the funding we are providing through this programme to help local businesses grow, sell over a much wider area (even nationally or internationally), and to have the greatest impact that it can in the local economy. For this reason we will give preference to businesses that “employ” (including as a business proprietor or director) at least one person in full-time work locally, over any business that is run as a part-time venture with only part-time staffing resource.

You will be notified whether the application for your business to be accepted onto the programme has been successful, within 10 working days of the date that the application window closes.

For those businesses accepted onto the programme Quickfire Digital will themselves make initial and ongoing contact with you during the E-commerce platform build and support period – as they work with you to help your business.
