Council Tax Assistance consultation

Thank you for taking the time to look at the Council Tax Assistance consultation. We really do value your opinion and your feedback is invaluable in making sure the scheme is one residents feel is fair, efficient and meets their needs.

Since 1 April 2013 the council has been operating a local Council Tax Assistance Scheme (CTA) which replaced Council Tax Benefit. Each year, the council has to review and approve its scheme. Before this takes place, we consult with customers and stakeholders to help us develop and update our scheme.

This survey will tell you the changes that the council is considering making to its CTA Scheme from April 2022, the reasons behind the proposals and how it may affect customers. You are invited to complete this survey to capture your views on these proposals and submit any other comments you would like to contribute to the decision-making process. When calculating an award of Housing Benefit (HB) and Council Tax Assistance, a customer responsible for at least one child is given a family premium when deciding how much money they need to live on.
