Business Awards terms and conditions

1. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council are joint data controllers for data protection purposes and information and notices can be found on the entry forms.
2. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council reserve the right to alter these terms at any time without notice.
3. If any part of these terms becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Any modification to or deletion of a provision or part-provision under this clause shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of the terms.
4. Any dispute or claim (including non-contractual disputes or claims) arising out of or in connection with these terms or their subject matter or formation shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law and exclusive jurisdiction of England and Wales.

Nominations

5. All Business Award categories are open for self-nomination except the Pub of the Year and Retailer of the Year categories which are only open for public nomination.
6. You can nominate your business for as many categories as you wish.
7. If you have previously won twice in a particular category, you will not be able to enter the same category within a 5 year period from your last win. You can still enter any other category that you have not yet won.
8. All nominations and any additional supporting documents must be submitted online via the nomination form. 
9. All nominations are open to businesses that are working from an operating base in the Broadland and South Norfolk administrative area.
10. Award sponsors cannot enter the award category that they are sponsoring but are welcome to apply for any others.
11. Please refer to the list of categories for specific entry criteria.
12. The comments made on nominations should be accurate to the best of your knowledge. It is the responsibility of the person nominating and the nominated party to ensure that any information is accurate and Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council accept no responsibility or liability regarding information supplied to them in this process.
13. By entering the awards, you agree to partake in campaign publicity, including the use of any images taken, logos and non-confidential submission information. It is the responsibility of the nominating party and the nominee to ensure that any information provided to Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council is non-confidential and all necessary consents have been gained.
14. Nominations are open between 9am on Monday 16 October 2023 and close at 11:59pm on Friday 15 December 2023.
15. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council reserve the right to amend the campaign dates if required.
16. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council employees and councillors cannot nominate any business, retailer or pub that is jointly owned by themselves, their partners or a close relative. Close relative is a parent, parent-in-law, son, son-in-law, daughter, daughter-in-law, step-parent, stepson, step-daughter, brother, sister, wife, husband or civil partner. If Broadland District Council or South Norfolk Council become aware of a breach of this term the nomination shall be void.
17. If you are voting for the Pub of the Year you may only vote for one pub in each district. We will only accept one vote per person, per email address, per district, for the Pub of the Year awards. 
18. 'Pub' refers to an establishment which is licenced and whose primary business is for the sale of beer and other drinks, and sometimes also food, to be consumed on the premises.
19. If you are voting for the Retailer of the Year you may only vote for one retailer in each district. We will only accept one vote per person, per email address, per district, for the Retailer of the Year awards.
20. 'Retailer' refers to those independent shops with less than five outlets, whose primary business is to sell a product. For illustrative purposes, these are the types of businesses we class as retail.

Pub of the Year prize draw

21. By submitting a vote for the Pub of the Year you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win £100 vouchers for an independent local pub of your choice in the Broadland or South Norfolk area. There will be two prize draws – one for the Broadland area and one for the South Norfolk area. No financial alternative is available.
22. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk employees, Councillors, their partners or close relatives (see term 16) cannot take part in this prize draw.
23. The prize draws are only open to residents in the UK over the age of 18. Entry to the draws is free.
24. The prize draws are open for the duration of the nomination period (see term 14).
25. The winners will be drawn randomly from a computer-generated list in April 2024. The winners will be contacted by a Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council representative on this day. If the winners are uncontactable after 28 days or the prizes are unclaimed, supplementary winners may be drawn.
26. The winners will be announced on Broadland and South Norfolk social media channels.
27. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council reserve the right to suspend, cancel, postpone or amend the prize draw and/or review these terms and conditions.

Retailer of the Year prize draw

28. By submitting a vote for the Retailer of the Year you will automatically be entered into a prize draw to win £100 shopping vouchers for an independent local shop of your choice in the Broadland or South Norfolk area. There will be two prize draws – one for the Broadland area and one for the South Norfolk area. No financial alternative is available.
29. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk employees, Councillors, their partners or close relatives (see term 16) cannot take part in this prize draw.
30. The prize draws are only open to residents in the UK over the age of 18. Entry to the draws is free.

Judging process

35. Finalists of all award categories will be shortlisted by pre-determined scoring criteria and a winner will be selected by the judging panel.
36. The judges may be drawn from the headline sponsor, representatives from each of the category sponsors, industry experts, councillors and Economic Development Officers.
37. Entrants must be willing to consult with the judges should the need arise.
38. All shortlisted finalist's entries will be validated as part of our due diligence checks regarding any outstanding regulatory, licencing or financial issues with both authorities.
39. The decision of the judges is final in terms of any award made. The organisers will not be obliged to justify their decision or enter into any correspondence.
40. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council have the right to change any award category without notice.

The Awards

41. All finalists will receive two tickets to attend the awards ceremony presentation evening. Further tickets may be available at a cost of £37.50 + VAT per ticket (finalists will receive full details).
42. The awards ceremony will take place on 5 March 2024 at Norwich City Football Club, Norwich.
43. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council reserves the right to alter the programme, venue or speakers without prior notice.
44. Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council shall not be liable for any direct or indirect losses including loss of profit or goodwill and shall have no liability in respect of the awards process, nominations, publicity or event subject to term 45 and to the fullest extent as permitted by law.
45. Nothing in these limits any liability which cannot legally be limited, including but not limited to liability for (a) death or personal injury caused by negligence; (b) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
46. Any logos, pictures or communication created for these awards shall remain the exclusive property of Broadland District Council and South Norfolk Council.
