Mindful towns and villages
What is a Mindful Town or Village?
Mindful towns and villages create safe spaces where people can have open conversations about their mental wellbeing with locally trained individuals who are committed to supporting their communities.
Members of the community, such as small businesses, community groups, sports clubs, and residents who want to help others, will complete basic mental health awareness training. They can then use this knowledge to offer support and signpost people to other services when needed. These individuals are known as Wellbeing Champions.
Each town or village requires a minimum number of Wellbeing Champions to gain mindful status.
